The style

Stitch braids get their name from the banded look along each lane — the hair is fed in section by section so the braid reads as a series of even ridges rather than one smooth rope. The style lives or dies on the parting: lanes run true from the hairline to the nape, evenly spaced, with clean scalp showing between them, which is why it photographs so well from above and sits flat under wigs and bonnets.
